NWTC warmly welcomes John Killen as their new CEO

John is a time served engineer having undergone a 4-year apprenticeship in mechanical engineering before gaining industry experience. He joins us from Utility and Construction Training, a leading training provider in the utilities and construction sector, specialising in providing training and engineering apprenticeships. UCT were graded as 'Good' in their July 2021 Ofsted inspection.

John was CEO for five years having served as Managing Director for the preceding ten years since founding the business in October 2007, which he headed up until its disposal in November 2022. Previously, John served as ‘Director of Training Services’ at Alfred McAlpine Plc, overseeing considerable expansion of in-house training capacity to support business and customer need.

He is passionate about apprenticeships and lifelong learning, having gained a BA (Hons) in International Economics later in life, followed by NEBOSH and various training qualifications. John is currently studying towards achieving his accountancy AAT awards. He is married with two grown up children and enjoys family downtime at weekends, especially long walks along the North Wales coast with the family dog.
