NVQ Mechanical

Course designed for:

 This qualification is for candidates who need recognition of their competence in one or more of a wide variety of engineering maintenance activities and also need a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3

 Course outline:

The learner must present evidence (portfolio) which clearly shows they have met the assessment criteria and learning outcomes. The learner must achieve the mandatory and optional units relevant to their pathway (occupational role).

An NWTC assessor will visit the candidate / company 4 – 6 times whilst undertaking the NVQ to track progress and is available for support by phone or email.

6 core units and *2 mandatory units must be completed

Complying with Statutory Regulations and Organisational Safety Requirements

Using and Interpreting Engineering Data and Documentation

Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering

Handing Over and Confirming Completion of Maintenance Activities

Carrying out Fault Diagnosis on Mechanical Equipment

Maintaining Mechanical Equipment

 *Mechanical Components to Usable Condition by Repair

*Carrying out Preventative Planned Maintenance on Mechanical Equipment

*2 examples of mandatory but can be changed out with others which would suit the candidate’s job role and meet the criteria required.

 

Entry requirements

An NWTC assessor will assess suitability for the course. Candidates must have the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the units. There are no entry qualifications required, candidates would benefit from having a reasonable level of English and Maths to undertake this qualification unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment, however working in the environment is required as assessment is open to any learner who has the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the assessment routes.
